Meet Dr. Leslie Cohen
Personal History
Dr. Leslie Cohen has over 20 years of experience treating adults with depression, anxiety, mood disorders and other issues. She takes a collaborative approach informed by humanism, behavior analysis, and cognitive behavioral therapies. Dr. Cohen is passionate about finding ways to connect people with their strengths while awakening their curiosity about their own potential for engagement and change.

Education
Dr. Cohen has a PhD in Psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia. She is a PhD-level Board Certified Behavior Analyst and is licensed to practice psychology in North Carolina and New York. She completed her training and clinical hours in psychotherapy at the National Institute of the Psychotherapies in Manhattan under the supervision of Dr. Manny Shapiro who emphasized acceptance, trust, collaboration and curiosity as fundamental to the therapeutic relationship and healing.
Experience
In addition to her psychotherapy work with adults, Dr. Cohen has extensive experience working with children, young adults and families struggling with learning differences, neurodiversity, and ADHD. In Canada, she collaborated on projects and wrote grants to increase multidisciplinary clinical support to underserved families on the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve and to families with challenges to service access in Ontario. As a principal psychologist for the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (DD), she was responsible for training and supervising clinical staff, multidisciplinary consult, and forensic assessment. In working on complex cases with underserved populations, Dr. Cohen became keenly aware of barriers people face when trying to make a positive change in their lives.

Dr. Cohen currently offers treatment to adults struggling with a variety of issues, including Depression, Stress, Work-related Stress, Anxiety (including Social Anxiety), Specific Fears, Panic and Avoidance, Mood Swings, ADHD, Pain/Health-related Mood Changes, Sleep Issues, Trauma, Difficult Relationships, and Communication. She also offers effective supports to people who are seeking to maximize their potential, unblock creativity and create healthier routines and habits.
